Secrets:
For Peter’s 46th birthday he was given the gift of fly-fishing lessons
at a recently opened trout lake, and was immediately hooked (sorry
about that). He’s not sure if it is the fishing or the hours of
solitude that he prefers, but happily it’s the inspiration for this
rainbow trout model. The owners of Broad Oak Trout Lakes are Chris Lee
and Charlotte Morgan, and their initials can be found near the base.
Types of trout are inscribed on the lid and interior – Brook, Golden,
Tiger, Rainbow, Apache and Brown. The oak leaf and acorn represent the
names of the two lakes - Oak Lake and Acorn Lake. These lakes are a
haven for wildlife, and even a very rare Squacco heron from Africa has
recently been sighted. Numerous dragonflies can be found there and
three are carved on this box figurine. Peter’s initials can be found
above a small fish hiding in the reeds. The initials PTN stand for
pheasant tail nymph, the name of a popular artificial fly pattern.
Open the lid to see an example of a PTN.
