Our newest addition to the faerie
nursery is a beguiling boy -- we're calling him 'Autumn Harvest' (for, as you know, the Faerie Children
have no names). All through the autumn he has been gathering nuts and berries to make sure he
and his fellow faerie children have enough to see them through the cold winters of the Western Isles. Faeries, it must be said, do not excel at raising a family. How many stories have you heard of changelings? 'Autumn Harvest' has the charm of his fellow faerie babes, and just a little naughtiness, as well. He's the one who rings the faerie bells of 'Bells and Chymes' and wakes them up in the middle of the night, and he is the one who tickles the babies in their 'Soft As Down' basket... one day they're going to fall out if he's not careful. 'Safe From Harm' keeps him in order though -- her quiet presence can work wonders on a wayward soul. |
